The most unique of all Spelljammer ships—as it’s made of stone and is literally priceless—the bizarre Beholder Tyrant ship’s “down” is actually its “forward”.  Beholders floating within can man eyestalks with elbow out from the “back” of the ship, shooting magical space-lasers at unsuspecting mortals in their galleons and shrikes.

If you’re unfamiliar with this ship, this is essentially a magically-flying hollowed-out asteroid that a particularly vicious and arrogant species of alien uses as their flying base.  And, with some variations, the Tyrant ship is meant to be modeled after the creature’s form itself.  If you look at the official tyrant floorplan, the hollow deck and the cargo deck are supposed to be inverted—but, like the Scorpion, I see no reason to actually invert the gravity, since many TaleSpire assets (and TaleSpire minifigs) don’t work upside-down.  Still, I placed a conservative amount of stuff in the cargo caverns, so when you add hide volumes to the treasure (or decide to remove it entirely), it should only be a few dozen assets to click through.  I think DM reusability is more important than prettiness, in many cases.

One major liberty was taken with the “mouth” or “eye” at the base of the ship.  According to the art, it’s a conically hollowed-out piece.  But it can’t fit with the floorplan, since a lot of the conical hollow space overlaps with the cargo.  It’s more important for players to actually have something to move around in, so I sacrificed the hollow space.  Note that the cargo deck is not actually intended to loop—if players go down the gravity shafts, there is a one-way path at the bottom.  Otherwise, it is built to official D&D 5e specs.

If you don’t intend to use the Tyrant as a ship, since it’s a slab, you can easily have it suspended in a cavern for a spooky aberrant finale fight, or just another chamber in some cosmic horror super-dungeon.  Enjoy.

6/13/23 update:  rounded out the base, filled a couple gaps, fixed some floating props
