Escape from the Underdark! Board
Escape from the Underdark is a one-shot meant to teach new players how to survive and reference their character sheet. You start by being stuck in a collapsed cave that leads deeper down and encounter either a rust monster or carrion crawlers – then you find an abandoned bridge built by drow and now the bridge is infested with spiders. The next challenge is to find a way across the gap in the bridge – which collapses a little more every time the players jump. Finally the players make it to an abandoned drow settlement with a single drow survivor in a church on the far side. They are chased by a Spider Drake, a dragon cursed by Lolth after destroying a loyal settlement of hers. They can loot the surrounding buildings then continue on to the church where they are greeted by a priest of lolth (a Yochlol in disguise) and she demands that they kill the Drake – a creation of Lolth that the priest cannot bring herself to destroy, yet knows that Lolth is no longer amused by it’s existence – and in return she will grant players passage through a staircase that leads to the surface. Players touch a crystal in the church that brings them to the top where they’ll find ballistae to use against the Drake.

This had the exact vibe I needed for a drow village. Thank you so much. Also, huge shout out to doing the backgrounds – it makes so much difference in the feel and I know it’s a lot of extra work.
