Inspired by the Meteora Monasteries in Greece.

The monastery is what you make it and features a wide variety of rooms and locations for the players to explore:

  • Docks (can be deleted to imply that this location is high up on a mountain)
  • Guard house (we don’t let in just about anyone here)
  • Kitchen
  • Large library
  • Sacred Shrine
  • Dining Room & Sleeping Quarters
  • Vegetable Garden
  • Semi-Secret passageways (optional)
  • Two separate crypts

The cloister is designed to be a friendly place with vibrant colors, but it can also work at night. An atmosphere block is provided.

Ideas for how the cloister fits into your campaign:

  • As a place to rest between quests
  • Defend against a violent threat that plans to assault the cloister
  • Epic dragon battle – Ground Zero
  • Murder mystery
  • Special infiltration mission to access the crypts and hunt for treasure
  • Special reward for players as a private hideout
  • Investigative missions

Hope you’ll find a way to use it in your campaigns. Would love to hear about it!

  1. I plan to use this as an origin for PC’s who took the monk class, this looks fantastic! I’d like to make a request to see more Greek/Roman buildings similar to this, I have a huge campaign that revolves around the roman era and I’m eager to find more buildings fitting this era. Thanks for your hard work!
