(Waterdeep) The Yawning Portal Slab
My own take on the Yawning portal. Though it may be a little smaller than the official material, all three stories of the iconic building are filled to the brim with details that make this tavern feel a little bit more realistic; perfectly suited for moments of splendid roleplay in this adventure filled establishment. Please feel free to use this in your games of Dragon Heist, or any such games where your party might find themselves in possibly the most famous tavern in Waterdeep.
All three floors of the tavern overlook the large hole, the circular balconies giving what little safety there might be for the carelessly drunk. A large circular skylight illuminates the entire establishment; various tables placed around, with more private and comfortable booths hidden behind curtains. 2 bars (one on each floor) provide patrons with easy access to drinks, whilst the third top-most floor is reserved for those wishing to bed down for the night. The kitchen, as well as Durnans personal living quarters occupy the left side of the ground floor, with a backdoor placed for easy unloading of supplies.
Architectural design was inspired by the works of Shawn Looyen (particularly the ground floor).
Kudos! Amazing work. I’m using it in a homebrew Basic Fantasy RPG game, altering a bit to make it somewhat less ritzy. Thatched roof, converting some of the fancey conversation nooks and private meeting rooms into high occupancy sleeping areas. Still, it will be the crown jewel of the village, a true masterpiece!
