Come on in, traveler. Strange weather we’ve had ’round these parts as of late. We’ve got plenty of ale to go around. Warm up by the fire and I’ll bring you some bread. -Kayleesa Irkell, Proprietor of the Swing Sword

The Swinging Sword is an inn located in Red Larch, a small town nestled in the Dessarin Valley. Players confronting the threats generated in the Prices of the Apocalypse adventure will probably make this their “home base” of operations. This is my first creation using Talespire. I chose the Swinging Sword as a practice run to become familiar with the program. I attempted to follow the descriptions laid out in the lore as far as practical.

The inn is a three story building made of wood and stone. It contains a large dining room, several single rooms, many with its own hearth, and numerous storerooms. The third floor contains small dormitory-style rooms where travelers can “sleep cheap” in a room with up to five other guests. The original builders constructed the chimneys in the kitchen poorly, leading to poor ventilation and several fires. Food is either bought from Red Larch’s other inn, The Helm at Highsun, or cooked on makeshift grills out back. Still, there’s no shortage of food for travelers with hungry bellies. A stables is located at the rear of the property.

I used a few designs from PsiaLapa’s Weary Wyvern slab, specifically his chandelier designs, his stable design, and the wagon located outside of the stables. I used their board as a reference for inspiration.

The basement has room to expand, but I am satisfied with how I finished it. There may be a stray error or two that I have missed. There are a few easter eggs, and there may be a secret passage (or two) for curious guests to discover. Please enjoy what I have built, and happy adventuring!
