1st map made, 60-70hrs.  This is a starter village for your lvl 1 party members to explore and wander around.  This map is campaign-ready as there are a total of at least 6 quests ready to be used at the DM’s discretion.  I have included a plethura of mini signs posted throughout the map that are DM notes you can use or ignore, since the green markers don’t import through Talespire.  Also, all the interior buildings are currently using FOW (Fog of War) so the DM can reveal as the party goes into buildings.  Resident houses are ready for rogues to break into with FOW ready.  Lots of DM nodes and atmospheres are ready to be used as well.  It is DM discretion if they want to use the prices on the houses for the party to buy.  There’s also an optional temporary companion to the southeast road that’s entering the village as the party is leaving the map.  It’s stats, with the horse, is based on a Deva that’s in disguise as a human (could be the party’s ‘Mentor’ throughout the campaign) and a unicorn also in disguise assisting the Deva.  You can use them however you want of course.  Please post a comment here if you used this map, I’d love to see what you did with it.  The map contains the following quests:

  1. “Dangerous Game” Have the party meet with the sergeant walking the main road to have the party hunt down either 3 wolves or 1 brown bear (2nd bear only if the party easily slays the 1st bear).
  2. “Rare Herbs” An alchemist posted a job in the tavern asking for someone to find rare mushrooms in the forest.  There is a hidden grove underneath a hill in the forest with only 1 opening visible.  Bonus given if they can safely harvest the flame flower and blue crystal.
  3. “Haunted House?” Party only hears about it from gossip in the tavern or market stalls, ask the mayor about the abandoned house near the guard tower.  House can be given or bought cheap by party to use at DM discretion. (Make sure they find the basement behind the house and use abandoned basement 1 board by me.)
  4. “Wounded Centaur” If party wanders to the north of forest clearing, they’ll find two minis merged to make a ‘centaur’.  It’s wounded and can be helped by either medicine check, healing, or helping into town.  If helped, can be used as a temporary companion later at DM discretion.
  5. “Easy Pickings” There’s a rogue in the tavern playing a dart game.  If the party plays him just once, after the game the rogue will use Thieves’ Cant to see if there’s a rogue interested in a heist.  If successful, he’ll continue using Thieves’ Cant to offer a job raiding the storage building’s 2nd floor safes.
  6. “Trouble Ahead” If the party spends over 1 week on this board or finishes 3/6 of the quests, reveal the bandit party to the SOUTH of the village and begin combat whenever the party gets within the village vicinity.  DM can choose to use the 4 town guards and/or the 4 halflings in the gypsy camp based on difficulty.  Crossbow mount in 2nd floor of tower can optionally give advantage attacks as it is a fixed turret and has the high ground.

Special thanks to  AJillustrate for the farm template animals and more, morikahn for the generic rural church, 4×4 and 4×6 generic rural house with porch, Eiven for the rural village and farmland modules, 4-RK for the market stalls and village buildings, Varanghi for the roadhouse inn (version 2), GENGUS for the a selection of small windmills and a barn, kneeb1ter for the poor rural home 1 – aldencross – unfurnished, Cryptfox for the rural guard tower, John-Fercher for the plains, lolgamerz89 for the forest board 1, Ye-Ole-Zyffer for the Road Through Rocky Hills , and Firefly for the coniferous forest slab.  Whew that was a lot of people!  Hope this village serves you well.

1.1: I added pictures of the info markers I had originally on the map, but talespire doesn’t import them into your game so here are extra screenshots to get an idea.

2/23/23 1.2: Added sign minis so my notes can be viewed only by the DM in charge of the map.  This should help with the planned quests I already implanted to the map.  lots of other notes pasted.  Added the centaur mini for the quest to the north.

1.3 3/4/23: I finally found the creator who made the statue.

1.4 3/8/23: Updated the map with more potential enemies if the DM needed a more challenging encounter while buffing some stats to other creatures.  Added more statues for people to worship at the church with signs identifying the god/goddess.

1.5 6/4/23: Updated Centaur mini, posted mini signs so information can be given to you, and added some npc’s near wolf den if you wanted to include a rescue or not.
