I made the Dungeon of ShadowsShadow Dungeon!

It’s not completely 1/1 with the maps in the module, but it was about as close as I could get; the board really only differs when it comes to the labyrinth, as I had to crank this out in like 2 hours before a session. So just a couple of things to note before you go using this board.

  • All the Shrieker Fungus are denoted by the big mushrooms on the board.
  • Spore traps are marked by a single mushroom or by a single cluster of mushrooms in a given 4×4 set of tiles (it makes sense looking at the board, I think).
  • Spikes are already there; you’ll have to hide those yourself.
  • Torches some torches are in the labyrinth already, but you’ll have to add the rest, I didn’t read that the dungeon had any to be honest and didn’t think of it until a player asked so the ones on the map are the route they took through the labyrinth, which- if you want to simplfy it even further than I did by removing a 3rd of it you could use those as a hint for the players to lead them right to the minotaur and demogorgon.
  • The labyrinth, as I said, has been cut down for simplicity, but the treasure and everything are still there in the Shadow Dungeon  version. I put a little spot for Fizzlebin and his treasure since that place doesn’t hold anything normally. I also added a spot for a mimic chest since the space was really empty due to cutting down the section of the dungeon.
  • In rooms D5 & D6, I merged the two statues into one again for simplicity.
  • I didn’t add any iconography above the doors; instead, I used different types of doors to help hint at what lies beyond.

I kept the atmosphere pretty neutral, just adding dark fog to the lower level and the dungeon ambience. When I actually ran the session, I darkened the lighting and didn’t even have fog or ambience, kept the webs light figured my players would just set them on fire anyways, and sure enough they did. Anyways, I think that about covers everything. Hopefully, you find it useful for your game!
