Shrouded in fog, the Blood Island has served a variety of purposes over the years. It was initially built as a lighthouse to warn passing ships of the hidden razor shoals, it was later turned into a military lookout post against pirates before it was raided by pirates and used as a base. However, one night the gold dragon Starflame appeared out of nowhere, slaughtered the pirates and has made the ruins his home ever since.
Between the fog and the nearby rocks, most ships stay clear of the island so Starflame enjoys his privacy and solitude. Still, occasionally folk get it in their heads to steal from his hoard. Assuming one gets past the giant gold dragon with cannons atop his foggy fortress, breaking into his hoard is not a simple affair. The outer walls of his vault have been penetrated, but within are a series of magical traps. First are four charged pillars that fire lightning at anyone who enters the room that isn’t Starflame. The inner door is protected by a permanent wall of force. Beyond that is a hatch that permanently polymorphs anyone who touches it into a fish and teleports them into the surrounding ocean.
