Privacy Policy

Tales Tavern (talestavern.com) is a community library of TaleSpire slabs, boards and collections, run by Cole eVentures, Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the site, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

When you sign in with Steam. Steam tells us your Steam ID, display name, avatar and public profile link. We never see your Steam password.

When you create an account with email. Your username, email address and a scrambled (hashed) password. If you turn on two-factor sign-in, we store its secret and your recovery codes, encrypted.

What you post. Slabs, boards, images, descriptions, tags, collections, comments, your profile message and the social and support links you add (YouTube, Twitch, Patreon, Ko-fi and so on). Most of this is public by design; private creations and collections are visible only to you and the site admins.

What you do on the site. Likes, bookmarks, follows, the creations you copy or download, and notifications sent to you.

Technical data. When you use the site we record your IP address and browser type in your session, and with download records to count downloads and stop abuse. Our servers and security provider also keep short-lived logs.

Payments. If you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We only receive a customer number, the subscription details, and your card brand and last four digits. For older PayPal subscriptions we keep the subscription and transaction numbers and the payment notices PayPal sends us, which include the payer's name and email.

Messages you send us. Feedback and reports through the site, including the page you were on and your browser type, and anything you email us.

Why we use it

  • To run your account, show your work and let others find, copy and collect it.
  • To process subscriptions and give members their perks.
  • To send account emails you need, such as email confirmation and password resets. We do not send marketing email.
  • To keep the site secure, count downloads fairly and prevent spam and abuse.
  • To answer feedback and reports, and to fix problems.

We rely on your agreement to our Terms to provide the service, on our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and working, and on legal obligations (for example, tax records for payments).

Who helps us run the site

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with services that help us run Tales Tavern:

  • DigitalOcean hosts our servers and stores uploaded images (United States).
  • Cloudflare delivers the site, protects it from attacks, and runs the "are you human?" check on sign-up and password reset.
  • Brevo sends our account emails.
  • Stripe and PayPal process payments.
  • Valve (Steam) handles Steam sign-in.
  • Monumetric may show ads to visitors who aren't members. Ad partners can use cookies and similar technology; see "Cookies" below.
  • YouTube plays videos a creator embeds. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
  • Discord: new public creations may be announced in our Discord server with their title, image, creator name and link.
  • AI assistants you connect. If you connect an AI assistant to your account, it can read and act on the data you allow, within the daily limits shown in Settings. You can disconnect it at any time.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our users, the site or others from harm.

Cookies and similar technology

We use cookies that the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, protecting forms against forgery, and remembering small choices such as a dismissed news message. Visitors who see ads may also get cookies from our ad partner. Where the law requires it, you'll be asked before those load, and you can change your choice with the privacy link our ad partner provides.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and content stay until you delete them.
  • Deleted accounts disappear from the site immediately. They can be restored on request for 30 days, and are then permanently erased. Some records are kept without your name: download counts, and payment records we must keep for tax purposes.
  • Notifications are removed after about 90 days.
  • Backups of the site are kept for up to 8 weeks, so deleted data can remain in a backup until it rotates out.

Your choices and rights

  • See and download your data: Settings → Privacy & your data → "Request my data".
  • Correct it: edit your profile and settings, or ask us.
  • Delete your account: Settings → Delete account. You can also ask us to erase it right away.
  • Object or ask questions: email [email protected].

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have more rights, such as limiting how we use your information or complaining to a data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using them.

Children

Tales Tavern is not meant for children under 13, and Steam accounts require users to be at least 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll post a notice on the site before the change takes effect.
