The Bodiam was a proud kingdom until it sank into the swamp. Its people tried multiple times to build up the swamplands, but ultimately they gave up when the black dragon Hallowback seized upon the opportunity to take over the territory and set up his lair within a small temple. As Hallowback displayed his might upon the desperate people, lizardfolk learned of the dragon and began to serve him. This pleased Hallowback and his power and influence grew. The lizardfolk quickly took over the ruined remains of the sunken homes of Bodian. They made sacrifices and rituals to celebrate the dragon that had brought them such prosperity in their eyes. Heroes came to reclaim the lands but they were slaughtered time and again then made as gruesome sacrifices to the growing dragon king. Hallowback’s influence has grown so great that it has begun to affect the land itself. Shambling mounds occasionally sprout up from the watery muck.
