This is my take on the ruined town of Thundertree from Lost Mines of Phandelver. Most of the buildings are currently undecorated and will probably remain so for this upload. I plan of remixing this encounter pretty heavily, but wanted to use this as a starting point. The dimensions of the buildings have been expanded, but I tried to stay mostly faithful to their shapes, orientations, and relative map positions. All of the locations from the printed adventure are represented, and there are a few that I added for my own flavor. This redesign is mostly to make the encounter more fun to run it in talespire and have it be familiar enough that you could run it using the written descriptions from the adventure and have it mostly represented on the board.

some locations were greatly expanded, this to fit some changes to the encounter im currently writing. Areas like the Barracks, Mages Tower, and Druids watch are some of the most expanded. This is mostly to allow combat or to have space for bigger parties to hide and rest etc.

  1. Beautiful board, but I can guess it has a ton of assets as the ground here looks like a bunch of trees under the ground haha. Looks great, but it struggles to load with this many assets. What I mean is it’s choppy if I’m flying over the board, maybe I need more than 16GB RAM to be fair, but just a heads up on how many assets you may be using on these boards.

    • When boards struggle to load for me I usually turn down the asset resolution to half or a quarter and see if it helps. Also, ive found capping the framerate in Talespire to help immensely with that issue.

The ground is made up of tons of props in any area that is considered “difficult terrain” I tried to make the pathways as clear as possible. This was also my first attempt at creating what I would consider a high detail board. Im still learning a lot about what does and doesnt work well for performance, but I take a little solace in that the devs have mentioned several times that the game still needs a lot of optimization there that they just havent done yet.

Also, thank you for the compliment on the board!
