Cabinet of Curiosities – Collab Challenge
– 9 Rooms, 8 Builders, 1 Cabinet of Curiosities –
“Before public museums and art galleries, there were cabinets of curiosities where rich nobles amassed strange, rare and valuable objects to impress and entertain guests and to position themselves as patrons of the arts and sciences.”
I invited TaleSpire builders on the official discord to each devise and build one of the 3×3 chambers of a cabinet of curiosities and all in all 8 builders took part. Here are the contributors in alphabetical order:
AlwaysDecent (room 9)
Lemurian/Dustdown (room 2)
Nyarlathotep (room 6)
TheSageOnStage (room 5, room 8)
Sheepsy (room 4)
Valael (room 7)
Yayhiko (room 3)
There’s also work by myself (room 1, parts of room 8, the gardens and the roofs).

About the Board
This board contains a few hide-volumes. Since we couldn’t agree, wether or not we should include roofs, the roofs have been placed inside the board seperately. There is also a hidden version of the cabinet with the roofs already on. Besides that there are two atmospheric markers included, one for daylight/outside and one for inside/nighttime.
Possible Plot hooks
There is a myriad of ways this board could be used in a rpg-adventure. Here are a few ideas:
- A heist adventure: Obtain object X from the Cabinet of Curiosities, but beware, there are traps, strange guardian creatures and magical safeguards…
- Prevent a theft! The word in the streets is, a band of master thieves is in the city… can the party foil their plans?
- Something isn’t right in the Cabinet! The last two wardens have completely disappeared during their night shifts… is a cursed artefact responsible? Is the collection haunted?
- A murder mystery: During a party held within the chambers of the cabinet, a guest was killed. By whom, why and how?
- A routine day in the Secret Crypto Preserve of the realm. Servants of the king have look after the realms most dangerous objects.
- The siege of the City is over… the plundering begins. Can the heroes make a stand and delay the robbery or destruction of priceless cultural heritage, until it can be moved or teleportated to safety?

It was such a pleasure working on this! Thanks to all my fellow builders for their efforts and Eiven for setting this up. I’m inspired by all of your beautiful work!
Thank you for participating, i.e. giving us the central room and the bar/restaurant! =)
This was fun! A bit strenous at times, but fun! ^^;
I really love to see how builders come up with fascinating solutions within quite limiting constraints.
