Ch. 2E-E: The Village of Orasnou
SETUP: Decide on an adventuring hook if necessary, afterwards read the following description as the players find themselves close to Orasnou.
General Features.
The general features of Orasnou are as follows:
Light and Visibility. It is early morning; the sun has not yet fully woken from its slumber. There is thick cloud cover, giving the entire area surrounding the village a dismal gloom.
Climate and Weather. It is wintertime, and though there are piles of snow here and there, it is currently drizzling. Cold, fat raindrops splatter into the mud and heighten the dreariness.
Smells and Sounds. Mud, fresh rain, wood smoke. Whipping wind, clattering shutters, rain on wood and metal.
Thick grey clouds gather far to the east and north, around the mountain range in the distance. The village you are standing in appears to have withstood a number of winter storms; the walls of the buildings are clearly weatherworn; their paint has long since peeled and heavy shutters adorn every window. There is little color here; the clouds have turned even the leaves of the trees and bushes grey and lifeless. The breeze picks up, flipping your cloaks about as if nature itself was warning you to turn back. A name can just be made out on a weathered sign on a post by the road “Orașnou”.
Welcome to Orasnou!
Located at the northern edge of the Svalich Woods and at the base of a mountain, Orasnou suffers from harsh winters. If you’re not playing the Adventure League scenario, Orasnou provides a small bit of respite traveling along the north edge of Barovia for adventurers. I may eventually make a winterized version of the map for seasons/the adventure but this just marks another map done for an extended adventure in Barovia!
Please enjoy!
And here is Orasnou claimed by winter!
Changelog.
Version 1.0 – Release
Version 1.1 – Noticed I missed a ground tile, so that has been fixed and added some more vegetation around while I was at it.
Version 1.2 – Didn’t realize the adventure actually gave two different maps! So, updated my naming scheme and waypoints for the map points remaining.
