About: Heading up the mountain, players must cross over the bridges to the other side of the ravine. A few other bridges, wooden and stone, suggest previous paths used long ago. With this location being visited so little no one knows of the potential dangers. Bandits waiting for an ambush, a creature making it’s home near the waters, or perhaps something else entirely hidden away from the world.

Creator Comments: First attempt at a ‘Battle Map.’ Wanted to take breaks between other projects and figured I would make some isolated pieces. Also gives me practice for making settings or custom assets I can use later. Feel free to use it however you see fit!

Constructive Feedback/Criticism would be greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy/get some use out of it!

  1. I fired it up in TS to have a look and the Board is even nicer in person. Great job!
There are lots of wonderful details, like the hidden cave and the old, broken bridge.
If I were to change anything, it’d be the first large bridge; I’d lower it a tad and make it into a much smaller bridge. This will allow the main (second) bridge to stand out more, and avoid the first bridge from blocking the view. A smaller, no-rails bridge will also be a more treacherous path, making the battle map feel more dangerous.
Great detailing and cliff-sides btw; they all feel really natural and realistic.

    • It’s flattering to hear it was even nicer in person as I’ve never built a Battle Map before, and it originally was outside practice for building scenery. I thank you for your feedback as well! I hadn’t considered how the view would be blocked as it had. I do plan on revisiting it with that in mind, to create the smaller no-rails bridge you speak of. For my own clarity, when you mean the first large bridge, which one are you specifying?

If the second bridge you are speaking of refers to the one by the waterfall, please, let me know. Otherwise I wouldn’t want to make changes without knowing what you consider to be the main bridge. As I consider the main bridge to be on the opposite side of the map from the Snowy side further up.

        • Everything is relative indeed! Depends on how a DM would like to use the map after all.

Thank you for letting me know which one you were referring to. I will attempt to revisit it when I get the chance to see how a smaller and more treacherous bridge would look.

  2. Love the map! Used it for a 1 on 1 DND combat session. The elevation changes, hiding spots, and overall design make a very compact scene that can accommodate quite a bit! I usually use Talespire in session as an overall detailed 3D map w/rulers more than anything else and this was the perfect map for a session like that. Thanks!

    • It makes me happy to know you have gotten some use out of it! I am taking an interest in making more battle maps on the side as they are far more compact than what I have made thus far. Gives a lot more practice too in such a smaller box, kind of makes me feel like I am somewhat doing diorama’s.

So I am hoping they turn out great as well. I feel more inclined to do another ‘mountain’ type map. Working on the layout now and I think it’s coming together nicely. I appreciate the feedback as well, truly glad it was what you needed for your session!
