River Harbor
Board

“This is the old harbor. Some decades ago, sea ships would anchor here, but now it’s only river boats coming down the great stream. When the capital grew into its current size, they build a new, bigger port to the east. That was kind of a big hit to peoples’ incomes here. But, you know, the folks of these quartes have always been … ingenious. Where you have wares, there are taxes. And where you have taxes, you have tax evasion … “
This board depicts parts of my homebrew setting: A river harbor in the kingdom’s capital. There’s warehouses, a little business and common logding houses with low prices and even lower standards.
The current quarters sit on top of artificial earth works framed by quay walls. Some centuries ago, this was a natural peninsula with a temple dedicated to a goddess of the seas and the tempest. The old temple was decommissioned, buried and turned into a rain water cistern for the harbor that grew on top. Now the sea faring business has moved elsewhere and only the river boats stop here to unload grain, wine, olive oil, wood and other goods commissioned by merchants. Import duties are mandatory of course, ie. hard liquor is highly taxed. The strict river-harbor master carfully oversees the unloading of cargo, to make sure, everything is done by the book, but generations of smugglers have been tunneling through the districts underground for decades to create ways to move wares unseen by the harbor master or the city guard.
There are sewers, there are boats, there are cranes and there are secrets.
The map contains markers with a little GM info and some weather presets. To navigate the subterrain areas I recommend just movin the green controler just deep enough, to remove the red tiled Xs which are hidden below the floor surface.
This board is -as usual- completely self made. It makes use of various modules I created individually over the recent years though. You can find my medieval-fantasy-city-modules and warehouses in this collection:
