  1. You have a lot of great builds but surely you realize that a battlemap that fits only 1 character isn’t a real battlemap? Who will he fight? Himself? Just a friendly piece of advice. When you think “battlemap” you must think BIG if you want anyone to actually use it. And it’s not just about mechanics, it’s also about aesthetics. If your “battlemap” is tiny it means the players can easily see outside of it, to the immersion-breaking carpet. If your battlemap is big, it’s harder to see outside it, which increases immersion.

    • thanks for the critique, I appreciate it. i definitely see your perspective regarding your ideal battlemap requirements. I had my earlier boards fit this type of battlemap requirements before, but i opted against incredibly large battlemap boards for the sake of players with lower end rigs (and oh man the lag fest). you did hit it on the nail that i mainly focused on mechanics over aesthetics, but the main point of making them slabs is key for me.

my main aim for these oneshot encounter battlemaps is mostly to mimic the feel of a ttrpg battlemap for when your gm has already forced an encounter outside of theatre of the mind rp and the battle commenses. by having them as slabs, around 24×24 tiles ( i think its just large enough to have decent fight mechanics plus the availability of fleeing), i can pull these encounters through mod.io in game for when an unplanned encounterss occurs. kind of like when oldschool jrpg overworld traveling incurs an encounter.

most of all, if i truly had my vision enacted (large like those environment boards that are 800 tiles sq+ furnishings) , i’d spend all my time building and would not really get a chance to play. practically speaking, i think having slab sized battlemaps do have their place in being used here considering how tales render’s objects in game.

thanks for checking out my builds! i do plan on one day upgrading to board posting, but probably when tales can hadle 600+ minis in one board.
