Monster Lairs - Doppelganger - Halfway House for Wayward Doppelgangers

The Halfway House for Wayward Doppelgangers may look like a rest stop along a busy trade road. In fact, to the public, it is simply known as the Highway Inn. Folk can stop for food, drink and a warm bed, all at a reasonable price. However, this is just a front for the establishment's true purpose. The house serves as a place for doppelgangers to find new lives.

The staff consists entirely of doppelgangers. Young doppelgangers come to the home where they can exchange lives with one of the guests. Well to do guests are poisoned with a paralytic and then taken to a secret prison cell hidden underneath the inn. There, doppelgangers are free to scan the victims' minds to learn their secrets and how to take over their lives.

Throughout the house are several pet mimics as well. The doppelgangers raise them to eat troublemakers as well as to dispose of the bodies of folk they no longer have use for. One must be careful of what they touch within the house...
