The village of Dusklake Hollow lies nestled in a serene forest, its quaint cottages and small farms surrounding the enigmatic Blackveil Lake. Though picturesque, the lake holds a sinister secret: its center plunges into unfathomable depths where sunlight cannot reach. Here, an ancient, coral-encrusted ruin is home to a cabal of cunning aboleths.
Under their control, the villagers live seemingly ordinary lives, their friendly demeanor masking the eerie uniformity of their thoughts. Visitors are welcomed warmly, plied with food and drink laced with subtle narcotics, only to find themselves on a boat in the dead of night, taken to the lake’s heart to meet their new masters. The enslaved are then sent out into the world, their minds bent to the aboleths’ will, to lure others into this web of growing subjugation.
