This island is the center of some strange magic that draws all nearby debris in and keeps all ships from being able to leave. It seems the magic originates from underneath the island somehow...
There are a few encounters on the island, it's up to the DM's discretion. There is some wildlife on the island protecting some loot, as well as a potential ambush in the ruins by some skeletons.
