Another of Serenia’s vast technological leaps allowed them to graze the edge of time travel, using revolutionary quantum physics and technology. The Project, dubbed “NORNIR” after the Midgard Empire’s ancient legend of the Maidens of Fate, it was intended to allow those who interacted with its portal function to move into the very threads of time and space. Potentially, it could allow the Serenian Empire to defeat Serenia’s enemies early on, bringing low the Elvar Dominion and the Empire of Midgard, and even prevent the space shuttle crash which brought the Saurre Triumvirate onto their world.

However, several things impeded its use: For one, it did not simply allow the users to move through time as they wished–it only allowed them to move their current thread of existence. A man who was a hundred years old, could only safely move back within those hundred years. The Elvar regularly lived to be several thousand years old, and the oldest currently-living Elvar weren’t even among the first. Second, there was no telling if moving forward in the threads of time would even work. Third, if they did manage to make some great and drastic change in the past, it could very well disrupt their existence in the present. Even the most minute change could shift their fate, and potentially inflict catastrophic damage to the Empire–and to their Black Projects.

Lastly, D̷̡͆̍ē̷͙͕s̴̯̉̌t̵̬͛̀i̴̜͆͂͜n̶͇͙͊̕ÿ̷̘̘́ ̶̡͔͑ì̸̲̯̂s̸̡͂͝ ̵̮̀ṣ̵̉͒ḙ̵̡̎̇t̷͚̠̑ ̶̩͑ḭ̷̢̅ń̸̤͖ ̸̳͈͂̌ś̷̹͜t̸̺͙͊o̴̱̗͂n̶̮̅e̵̠͐̀.̴͈̟̇̈

And so, the project was abandoned. Its doors were sealed, and its location wiped from records, to prevent it from being found…
Then, the Cataclysm occurred, shattering the Empires of the world, and all but completely ensuring that whoever would find it, would never be able to access it.

For four thousand years, Project: NORNIR was devoid of life.

Will it remain lost to the ages? Or shall it be found by errant adventurers whose curiosity get the better of them?
Or, will it be found by one with questionable moral fiber?
