General Features.
The general features of the Ruins of Boszórkan Keep are as follows:
Stone Walls. Some pieces have crumbled here and there, but the walls are still 13 to 15-feet high. Given the snowy winds and ice-covered conditions, the walls can be climbed by a DC 20 Strength (Athletics) check.
Light and Visibility. The sun is setting as the characters arrive. After two minutes, the last of it dips below the horizon and it is night. There is no moon and the stars are blocked by clouds. It is dark.
Climate and Weather. It is wintertime, and though there are piles of snow here that whips violently into small snow storms making visibility hard outside the keep.
High Winds. While fighting outside or in Ch. 2E-10-1: The Gatehouse or Ch. 2E-10-2: The Courtyard, the characters are exposed to high winds. Ranged weapon attacks suffer disadvantage. It is difficult to keep open flames lit.
Smells and Sounds. Whipping wind, snow blowing.
Green warmth fades away as you find yourselves on the side of a mountain. To the south you seen the domain of Barovia, Lake Zarovich a break in the trees below and the Old Svalich Road a thin muddy line in the snow beyond. To the north, there is only mist. A small crumbling keep hugs the side of the cliff face a spear’s toss away and seems your only possible destination.
Welcome to the Ruins of Boszórkan Keep! It appears in DDAL04-14 The Dark Lord.
While the floor plan is pretty bare, the adventure does spend time to describe them. I expanded the whole keep a little bit for ease of combat. The board includes the standards of Exploration & Combat based times/ambience and the extra board for extra enemies/NPCs you wish to add.
Thank you.
