The Travelling Door
Board

The Travelling Door is a merchant with doors spread across the continent. The owner is Delarov Ortling, a 15th level wizard, now retired from adventuring. He secured land deep in the middle of a desert, built this shop and let it become completely covered by sand dunes. He can move freely though, as the magic shop is outfitted with 10 permanent teleportation circles to various doors throughout the land.
Your party can gain access by opening a random door on the street or in the woods or even in the air. The doors don’t have to look like doors either, allowing them to be disguised easily. These can be spread across any city in your current campaign, making it perfect to drop into any D&D adventure.
Delarov makes his living by selling various artifacts and operating a teleportation service. Anyone can use the doors to teleport across the vast distances easily, at the cost of 50gp per person per travel, price negotiable with trades or if you manage to help him.
His shop is protected by a magical spell that will not allow you to leave via his teleporters if you have taken any item that you did not pay for. There is a back room that his personal area, protected by a tesla-coil like magical electricity. If you attempt to enter his back room without his permission, there is a DC20 Perception check to see the trap before it activates, and a DC25 Arcana check to deactivate it. If you fail the Arcana check, it activates.
Tesla Coil: If activated, it has a spell radius that fills the entire hallways between the personal chambers and the main room. DC18 Dex Saving throw, 8d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save.
Quests: Delarov is always looking for rare magical artifacts, and will offer permanent discounts to adventurers who can retrieve (insert magical item/macguffin here).
Delarov has been having some supply chain issues recently, and his stocks of mundane magical components (bat guano, sulfur, clay, feathers and the like) are running low. If you can find a new source for them, he will supply you with them for free.
Delarov has gotten into political trouble recently for letting a spy travel through his teleportation circles into another kingdom. This spy captured vital information to the kingdom and Delarov is under pressure from the kingdom to release the information as to who it was, but he doesn’t know as he doesn’t keep track of individuals that use the teleporters. He has an idea, and lists 3 different NPC’s. Find the correct culprit and turn them in. The reward for successfully finding and turning in the spy is that Delarov will create/sell one magical item for the party, up to ‘very rare’ quality, over the next month, for free.
