Wonderful people of the internet, may I present Waterdeep’s most popular tap room, the Yawning Portal Inn and Tavern.

I built this a few weeks back when starting my first campaign of D&D with my Mom.  Neither of us had played the game before, so having something to see taht could immerse us in the world really helps!  The build is based of the WizKids Icons of the Realm miniature set.  It has multiple floors, several decorated private drinking rooms, several bedrooms, kitchen, storeroom, oh and a 40ft wide hole in the tap room.

  1. This is the board that inspired me to start building for my Dragon Heist game. The pit specifically really got me thinking about adding depth and elevation to my maps. The whole thing is super well done. My players were blown away when I revealed it as the setting for session 1. They were so impressed with the detail, that decided to really lean into the environments for my game and try to make them as scenic as I could.
