This originally was intended to be much smaller, but as I considered what I needed to add, I realized it had to be larger than originally intended.

Goatfork is a fortress set in the middle of nowhere in a mountain range. It sits at the intersection of three paths through the mountain used by various merchants and traders to travel through otherwise difficult terrain.

However, it was dangerous, for a variety of regions. A powerful elven mage and a good (adventuring?) half orc warrior friend of his built Goatfork, as a place to help provide some protection for travellers, as well as a boarding place – for a fee, of course, and a large enough one to keep the place running. As a side note, sitting at the juncture of these three paths, it also could deny passage to anyone not willing to pay the fee.

Sitting with cliff drop offs on all sides, as well as very narrow paths leading through the areas with likewise dangerous cliff dropoffs for long distances, it became a haven for travellers – including for peoples from opposing kingdoms, forces, or races, who were forced to stay at the fortress in peace during their stay.

The place had a problem with a dragon once, hence the construction of magical ballista to ward the dragon, and any other hostile flyer – off, as well as being able to focus fire on hostile forces on the roads, which due to their narrow profile made it dangerous for them to approach in any case.

An alchemist and a witch made shop here as well, and hefty trade even in the fortress between different travelling caravans emerged in time, reducing travel time otherwise to have been spent travelling all the way to different regions otherwise.

I used several different resources in building this from other people – no reason to reinvent the wheel, right? I also built this fort as high as I could, with the cliff drop offs for atmosphere, but I built it a little too high, it was a pain to get everything lined up. My second board – first one was awful, lol, but I had fun making it.

There are a few miniatures around, just a few there for show, but the Goats (one above each gate, and one inside that is MUCH larger) are intended to be statues in representation, or honor, of the Fortress’ name.

Below are the list of resources, authors, and urls for all the resources I used, in many cases edited but still close enough to the original.

Hope you like! Enjoy!

PS – My actual handle is Morfedel, but it grabbed my temp handle off of steam, gonna try and get that fixed.
