Efreet are cruel to all non-efreet and happily enslave all people they come across. Once enslaved, the only way to gain some kind of respect or power is to show that you can be cruel and merciless to other slaves.
The efreeti Jufu runs a small outpost on the elemental plane of fire. There, in a fortress surrounded by fire, he has a handful of githyanki warrior slaves who help him guard the area. The githyanki, militaristic and strict by nature, resisted enslavement at first, but soon had their wills crushed by Jufu’s dark cruelty. They now serve as his loyal soldiers as each has received a magical tattoo that Jufu can trigger with a thought. If triggered, the slave is incinerated from the inside until all that is left is dust. The slaves vie for Jufu’s favor, quickly informing him of any treachery while fearlessly fighting for him in battle. It is ultimately not much different than what their lives were like serving Vlaakith. Just hotter.
